The theater department has been in an awkward stasis the past 3 years, and has finally begun to find some stability. Both students in theater and students who watch the performances feel that theater has taken a turn for a better future under Mrs. Demings leadership. Mrs. Deming shares that she strives to make theater grow with the creativity of the actors and actresses and helping the young stars create a new sense of relevancy in the world of Lugo.

Overwatch has a brand new event starting today, the Lunar New Year. To celebrate the Chinese Year of the Rooster, Blizzard has released a slew of around 100 new Eastern-inspired skins, sprays, icons, highlight-intros, and emotes. A CTF-like Brawl has been released, Capture the Rooster, and will be played on a newly decorated Lijiang Tower to celebrate the New Year.

Overwatchs biggest update went live today, and brought with it a ton of changes to heroes and introduced a brand new map, character, and a slew of game modes in the Arcade. The changes made in the update were mainly intended to balance the game in preparation of the new competitive season coming on the 23rd. The 20 million players of Overwatch, some of which attend Lugo, are more than excited for the update and the new features it brings to the game.

Ankis Cozmo is a new basis for human-to-robot interaction. With artificial intelligence, Cozmo is able to distinguish the users personality and will refelect it on his own through a variety of emotions ranging from happiness, anger, excitement, and frustration. As of today, he is available for shipping at $180 in the US; shipments to other countries will be evaluated in the upcoming year.

Google is releasing the Chromecast Ultra to follow their competitors into 4K streaming. The Chromecast Ultra plugs into a TV and can stream content from Netflix and YouTube off of a phone or tablet. It is set to release in November at $69.

Google wants to provide fast, quality WiFi to millions of people all across the world with Google Station. Google Station will be somewhat of an expansion off of a project completed along the Indian Railway, a project that has provided WiFi to over 3.5 million people per month. Google will create deals with partners to set up Google Station hotspots in businesses and buildings like shopping malls and universities.

Music fans everywhere know the struggle of buying tickets online, and soon they may finally be able to feel relief. The BOTS Act was sent to Senate, and if passed, will outlaw any use of scalper bots when buying tickets online. Without ticket scalpers, every music fan will soon be able to see their favorite artists without the hassle of buying tickets at ridiculous prices.

Project Wing is teaming up with Virginia Tech and Chipotle to test and gather data about delivery drones that could become the norm in the coming year. Select students and employees of Virginia Tech will place orders of Chipotle burritos, then the orders will be made in a food truck and delivered to the testing site near the school by drone. By conducting these tests, Project Wing is working toward their ultimate goal of innovating the delivery system and making use of empty airspace.

Zero Zero Robotics revealed the Hover Camera earlier this year, announcing it as the world’s first truly consumer-friendly self-flying camera that you can touch, engage with, and carry (at just 238 grams) in ways that were never before possible. Some of its capabilities are to follow the user, hover for 8 minutes on a full battery charge, and take videos and photos in 4k. The company had a vision of a world where every device is smart and simple for every consumer to use, and they believe that with the Hover Camera, they are taking their first step to the future.

ByFusions team saw the growing issue of plastic building up in the environment, so they decided to put it to use by building structures and homes in places such as California and Hawaii. No Mans Sky has been one of the most highly-anticipated games since it was announced at E3 2014. Upon release, however, the game faced a lot of discrepancies involving what developer Sean Murray had stated in numerous interviews versus what the game actually includes. A research team at the University of Tokyo have made progress in making electronic skin a utilizable device. From monitoring a persons health to being a walking notice-board, the e-skin has many possible uses in the near future. The super-thin e-skin (which is approximately 13 times thinner than a human hair) is made up of various layers of rubber and PLEDs to emit light, even when it is stretched over skin and crumpled up.
