Google is releasing the new version of their streaming device known as Chromecast Ultra, as revealed on a press event held on October 4.

To follow the rise of 4K media and devices, Google has revamped their streaming device, Chromecast, to the new Chromecast Ultra. The original device had the ability to stream content up to 1080p resolution quality from a phone or tablet simply by plugging into the back of a TV, and now it is capable to support streaming in 4K HDR (equivalent of 1080p four times) and Dolby Vision. Upon release, Chromecast Ultra will be able to support Netflix and YouTube, and Google Play Movies/TV will follow later in the month.

Mario Queiroz, product manager of Chromecast Ultra, reports that the new unit will be approximately 1.8 times faster than the original due to a better processor and improved WiFi antenna. The device also has an ethernet port in in the power adapter, giving users the opportunity to connect it to the router for a faster and more consistent connection. The device is planned to be released in November and the price is set to be $69, lower than most similar devices.
