Mrs. Doyle shared that “we’re excited to have the public see what we’ve been doing. They [the students] are a little nervous, but they’ll do just fine.”

Don Lugo Horsemanship hosted the annual Chino Fair Horse Competition on June 3rd. 13 horsemanship students were lucky to compete in the show after the Chino Fair asked Lugo to host the show and bypass any difficulties in retrieving the horses for the students to compete.

The competition featured different classesL English Pleasure and Western Equitation. Different schools and students from 4H came to compete with the Lugo students. The students in horsemanship were selected to take part in the competition by expressing interest to their teacher Mrs. Doyle and sending in application slips.

As the riders showed off their talent and hard work in riding and showmanship, the spectators enjoyed watching the event from the shade of the animal pens. A Lugo sophomore commented “I had no idea that Lugo could host events like this, it’s really cool to see all of the riders with the horses and to have something like this take place on campus.” The horsemanship students were pleased to host the show at Lugo, and many of them are hoping to participate in more events such as this in the future.
