Overwatch has a brand new event starting today, the Lunar New Year. To celebrate the Chinese Year of the Rooster, Blizzard has released a slew of around 100 new Eastern-inspired skins, sprays, icons, highlight-intros, and emotes. A CTF-like Brawl has been released, Capture the Rooster, and will be played on a newly decorated Lijiang Tower to celebrate the New Year.

Overwatch’s Lunar New Year event is live today, boasting a traditional Chinese style to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Rooster, which occurs on January 28.

The update features several new additions, most of them are the typical features of an event. A new Brawl, Capture The Rooster, is a capture-the-flag style brawl held in an updated Lijiang Tower decorated to celebrate the Chinese New Year. As per usual, loot boxes have been replaced with Lunar loot boxes, and within them players can find Eastern inspired skins, icons, and other customization items.

To further honor Chinese traditions, Blizzard has recreated a classic Chinese story, Journey to The West, to feature Winston in the online comic Winston’s Journey to the West. Several of the new skins are based on the traditional garb and symbols from each of the Hero’s countries. The event will be available from January 24 up until February 13; new items will no longer be available after the event is over.
