Zerodium made a 1 million dollar bounty in October, prompting programmers to create a jailbreak for ios 9. The company set requirements for the jailbreak to meet in order to redeem the bounty. 2 companies have reportedly created an adequate jailbreak; which in the near future will be made available to U.S. citizens.

In early October, Zerodium, a company designed to catch program bugs, offered a million dollar bounty to anyone who could create a jailbreak for ios 9 that only required the phone itself and safari. On November 1, it was announced that two companies had been working on the hack and one had actually succeeded in making a functional ios 9 jailbreak.

The requirements of the hack was that it had to be available on all iphones, and must have been made by the end of November. It also must use only a web page or text message to perform the hack. Lastly, it must bypass all ios 9 security that prevent other hacks from being made.

Zerodium plans on paying the group the million dollar bounty in return for the hack. They have stated that they will be selling it to other technology companies and later to individual American citizens. They also have stated that they have no intentions of sharing the exploit to Apple, thus solidifying this incredible feat in programming.
