The Dan Stover Memorial Music Contest is being offered to Lugo seniors. The Rotary Club of Alhambra, following the death of Dan Stover, a man who was a well established Rotarian, musician and person has had music scholarship made after him. a Music Scholarship Program in his name. Winners are eligible for Prize Money from $1000 - $5000 depending on the participation of each individual club.

The Oscars took place on Sunday, February 25th, and it was a night turned sour as the announcement for Best Picture was mistaken- almost Oscar worthy itself. A mishap took place on stage when Moonlight was unable to shine; a fault that quite nearly broke the internet. When the producers of La La Land took stage to receive the Best Picture award, they soon realized that these nominees werent the right recipients.

This past Saturday the Don Lugo cheer team went to their first competition of the season. The girls worked extremely hard to make sure their routine was competition ready. Cheer captain Sarah Wiseman, says, as a team we all did very well but there is always room for improvement.

Due to a leaked video of the German Shepherd, Hercules, struggling to comply with his trainer, the A Dogs Purpose premiere will be cancelled. Although, the film will still air nationwide on January 2017- as planned. The company regarded on the day the clip was exposed online, “there were several days of rehearsal of the water scenes to ensure Hercules was comfortable with all of the stunts-on the day of the shoot, Hercules did not want to perform the stunt portrayed on the tape so the Amblin production team did not proceed with filming that shot.”

La Land Land is the winner of 7 Golden Globes including the Best Motion Picture Musical/Comedy award. The screenplay writer and director Damien Chazelle created a film like no other and has the audiences eyes glued to the screen from the beginning, and all the way til the very end. Washington Post recalls that the real star in La la Land is the movie itself, which pulses and glows like a living thing in its own right.

Local Psych Punk band Hexed held a show on December 10th. All the proceeds from the show were donated to a local charity. The band plans on creating more shows that are specifically for helping charity because they would like to make a difference in their community and the world around them.

NASA has created a Poop contest and is offering a $30,000 prize. Contestants must create an in-suit waste management system that would be beneficial for contingency scenarios or for any long duration task that an astronaut may have. The contest opened on October 11th and will end December 20th.
