The first of many changes was the new tile. This portion of the classroom is where the café will be set up. Student, Reina Bernal states,”I like the new floor, it looks a step closer to becoming a café.”

Don Lugo’s culinary department is in the process of transforming the classroom/kitchen into a café. During winter break, the culinary classroom went under construction to get new tile. This is one of many changes yet to come to the classroom.

The mastermind behind this grand idea is the culinary and ROP instructor, Mr. Sam Abdelmalek. Mr. Abdelmalek’s purpose for this idea is to challenge his advanced culinary class to learn people skills and teamwork for the future. He comments that he, “wants to take the class to the next level.”

Although the café will only be used by the administration, Isaiah Ruiz states, “I’m pretty excited to cook for our staff.” The date for the finished café is to be determined but once it is up and running, many faculty will be racing to see what culinary has cooking. Finance clerk Christine Rojas states, “This is so awesome!  Once the café is done, I will not have to worry about skipping my breakfast or missing my lunch because we would have our own resource here on campus that I can go to.”
