Moana helps Disney set a new record

Disney’s Moana helps the powerhouse that is Disney set the all time record of $2.5 billion dollars at the box office. Since the two week release of Moana, it has brought $119 million dollars helping Disney set the new record. As the back to back winner of the box office, it’s expected for Moana to keep it’s winning streak going into it’s third week of release.

As Disney’s Moana had no trouble staying atop of the box office, it has brought in a hefty $28.3 million dollars from the second week. Disney fan, Julya Shimada states, “The music was incredible, it was very very catchy, the lyrics were so inciting, and the characters were really intriguing. It’s one of the best children movies I’ve seen so far in 2016, Disney has outdone themselves this year.” Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the soundtrack, had a huge contribution to the success of Moana because, “what’s a Disney movie without a good soundtrack?”

The creators of Moana wanted to create a movie that brings a little more cultural diversity to the world of Disney princesses but at the same time also create a movie that tells a story that all ages can watch and enjoy. “Something that sets Moana apart from other Disney movies is there’s no love interest. Every single Disney Princess has a love interest but this one doesn’t and I just love how its so different from the rest of Disney movies,” states Disney enthusiast Jena Huante.
