Samsung is emerging from smartphones to tracking devices. Samsung has also announced a new product, the Samsung Connect Tag, which will allow users to keep track of their pets, children and belongings. According to Samsung it will be the first consumer mobile product to use narrowband network technology.

The Samsung Connect Tag provides the location of the user’s personal belongings or pet that the tag is connected on both outdoors or inside a facility or at the users home. The location of the tag is informed to the users smartphone by using the GPS, Wi-Fi based positioning or a cell ID for location tracking. The device is claimed to have a battery life for seven days before needing a recharge.

The Samsung Connect Tag will allow the parents of Don Lugo students to place the traceable tag onto their students backpack so they are informed that their student made it safe to school. The traceable tag will also notify parents of Don Lugo students that their student skipped school and went to hang out with their friends at the park or at the movie theaters. The traceable tag will also allow Don Lugo’s agricultural students to put a tag onto their animals to apprise them their every move even if they end up escaping from their cages.

The traceable tag can be attached, say to a child’s backpack, a dog’s collar, or personal belongings like your keys or purse to track where they are.
