Don Lugo falls in a heart-breaking loss against San Dimas. This moves Lugo to 1-5 and second place in our Legue behind 6-1 West Covina who we will play in four weeks at West Covina.
On the bright side, Don Lugo’s offence has been on a tear this season, with Kalib Pacheco throwing for 1,415 yards and 22 touchdowns, placing him top 45 in California, while being miles ahead of every other quarterback in the San Antonio League with the second-best quarterback only throwing 385 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kalib isn’t alone in the offensive explosion, with Gavin Hrynezuk seeming to have a highlight reel catch every week. Gavin has pulled in 34 receptions for 480 yards which is first in San Antonio and he is also top 75 in the state of California. Don Lugo also holds the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th top receivers in San Antonio with Curlee Kirkpatrick jr., Elijah Montijo, Samuel Chavez, Blake LaPorte, and Joshua Morales holding the spots respectively.
The game didn’t seem competitive with Lugo not scoring and San Dimas having 35. Kalib had a off game for his standards. He seemed rushed by Sam Dimas’ pass rush. The whole offense seemed they were not all on the same page. Defense seemed to improve from last week against Fillmore. There were fewer explosive plays from the other team this week. This could be contributed to the transfers that made their first start on Friday. Don Lugo is hoping to regroup themselves for the upcoming game.
Running back Elijah Montijo suffered an ankle injury late in the game. When asked he said, “I’m out for 2 weeks but then I have to see a doctor to see how long I will be out”. Elijah will be deepy missed considering he is leading the team in rushing yards. Boe Canty the backup has looked good on his limited snaps we are excited to see him shine in the leading role.
