First Volleyball Game of the Season

First+Volleyball+Game+of+the+Season

The Don Lugo’s Girl’s Volleyball Team is off to a great start to the season, with Varsity, JV, and Freshman winning their first games against Sierra Vista. The suspenseful games were played on August 15 2023, in the Don Lugo gym with the stands filled with an enthusiastic audience.

The Varsity team upheld their reputation by winning all three sets 3-0. JV winning their match 2-1 and the frosh team is off to a great future with also winning their game.

Considering it was most of the girls on the frosh team’s first game they did a great job communicating and keeping the ball in the air. With the captain of the Frosh team Shaila Martinez saying “Our first game had a lot of energy, we played really well, everyone played confidently. Overall for our first game it went really well.”

The JV game was a very suspenseful, nail-biting game with Don Lugo winning the first set 26-24 and Sierra Vista winning the second game 22-25. Although Don Lugo pulled through, winning the 3rd set 18-16. All three sets, both teams were going back and forth with the lead.

Although they all had incredible wins, it was not shocking. These girls have been practicing hard since July out in the hot sun. With the player of the match Morgan Graves saying “ That the game went really well, although there is always room for improvement, but for it being our first game I’m really proud of us.”

If the Don Lugo Girls Volleyball team continues to practice and play passionately as they did on their first game of the season there is no doubt that they are going to win their next games.
