Since Winter Break, the Don Antonio Lugo Drumline has been preparing for their upcoming February performances. The ensemble has recently just announced their “oh-so-mysterious” theme for this year’s Winterline show: Red. According to Percussion Captain, Ramiro Rodriguez, the show concept this year is a little bit of a dark twist on childhood fairytale The Little Red Riding Hood.

The show is made up of “chapters”, much similar to a story book- it will consist of three songs, titled: Red- Chapter 1, Red- Chapter 2, and Red- Chapter 3. This years Winterline’s Instructional Staff is in the process of creating the show, so Drumline’s current focus is learning the music and choreography for the first “Chapter”, their performances will be held center stage on the gym floors across California as they compete against other Winterline groups, a big show is in hand and many cant wait to see what the Lugo Winterline put together this year. However, the show choreography and music will remain a mystery until the first performance.

This is Lugo’s second year in a row with a Winter Drumline. Last Year’s show was called “Throne” which they received multiple awards for. So even as first-timers to the game they gave an amazing show, imagine what they have in store for us this year with “Red.” Rodriguez shares, “I look forward to showing off all our hard work and dedication at the upcoming performances- and I’m really looking forward to seeing how far we can go.”
