On Monday, January 25^th, Don Lugo Band Director Mr. Yannik, was thrilled to hear that the Marching Conquistadors will participate in the 2016 Festival of Music.

The festival will take place on Saturday, April 30^th, 2016 and will be held at Mt. San Antonio College. This festival is set to celebrate the music of composer and professor, Frank Ticheli. Each participating band will perform a musical piece composed by Ticheli.

Our very own Mr. Yannik couldn’t hide his excitement for this grand event, since he is a huge Frank Ticheli fan. Mr. Yannik is looking forward to working on a Ticheli piece with the Lugo band. “I have performed his work before with my other groups before coming to Lugo and I’ve decided to carry that over to Lugo this year.” said Yannik.

Frank Ticheli will be present at the Festival of Music and will offer direct feedback to the bands.  Mr. Yannik exclaimed,”I have admired this composer for years and having the opportunity to perform his pieces during my first year at Lugo makes me really excited.” Having Frank Ticheli there will certainly add to Yannik’s nervous excitement, but he is confident in what Lugo has to offer and looking forward to what Ticheli will have to say about the performance.
