After the Lugo Dance Team went from having 5 seniors, the “Fab 5”, this year’s team is continuing their legacy with 9 seniors, 7 of which are first year members.

Class of 2016’s first year dance team members definitely feel the pressure that comes with being in this acclaimed team on campus. Esthefany Salazar and Aryana Watson are 2 of the 6 seniors that joined the dance team this year. “Dance team has such a big reputation, and people always look forward to seeing us perform during rallies… it’s our senior year and we want to do the best that we can to live up to those expectations” expressed the two seniors.

Brian Lopez and Odalis Guerrero are the 2 senior veterans on the team this year. Both shared that even though the majority of the seniors in the team are first year members, everyone learns from everyone regardless of how long they’ve been in the team. “We’re all mentors to each other…we all have different things to learn from each other every day.” shared Lopez and Guerrero.

Dance coach, Mrs. Avery thinks all the new dance team members worked very hard to get where they’re at and still continue to push themselves each day. ” I think dance team’s biggest strength this year is their perseverance…everyone has been working very hard to be the best they can be”. Although the journey has not been easy for the new comers, they are continuing the legacy of the “Fab 5”.
