Is TikTok really getting banned or is this a traditional situation that occurs every year? Recently the news announced how the government decided to ban TikTok in the United States. Lots of students and users speculate that this won’t occur because people claim this every year. Others on the other hand are in complete fear because they will lose all their memories on the app. Many students have been on that app since 2016, that’s a long time to stay on an app. A negative effect of this app shutting down is content creators will struggle with income now. Also, lots of businesses will struggle to advertise without an app everyone is constantly on. Students claim that app helps them with outfit ideas, movie suggestions, and with homework they don’t fully comprehend. Tiktok was shut down on the 18th approximately around 8 pm. People were in shock because they thought it would shut down once it struck midnight. Some even assumed it wouldn’t’ get banned at all. Lots of people were heartbroken, not knowing what to do with their free time. People didn’t know what app to go to next, many created an account with an app called “Red Note”. Others began to watch Instagram reels because it was the closest thing to Tiktok. But it simply was just not the same as TikTok.
The next day, January 19, the app was restored. Trump, the new president, fought for the Tiktok users by bringing the app back. After the dark hours every user in the U.S. glee of happiness that the app was back up. While some others claimed if the app was deleted during the dark period you can download it back. Users are glad all their drafts were restored and they could go back to scrolling.
