Yeah yeah yeah! That’s what millions were singing during Usher’s halftime performance during Super Bowl LVII. He had guest performances by Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Lil Jon, HER, and Jermaine Dupri. Usher performed a total twelve songs including Caught Up, U Don’t Have To Call, Superstar, Love In This Club, If I Ain’t Got You (with Alicia Keys), My Boo (with Alicia Keys), Confessions Part II, Burn, U Got It Bad (with H.E.R), OMG (with will.i.am), Yeah! (with Lil Jon and Ludacris), and Turn Down For What/Get Low (Lil Jon). His halftime performance left lots of people satisfied at the end but disappointed in the beginning. At the start Usher came out with acrobats, dancers, show girls, and a drumline all in flashy clothing. Audiences were left saying they didn’t know where to look due to all the commotion going on during the start of the show. Daryl Falcon, a Don Lugo High School student and football fan states, “There was a lot going on, but to pull something like that off takes a lot of teamwork and dedication.“
Many were also disappointed with Alicia Keys bit of the performance, especially being that her voice cracked at the start of her song. Many took to social media stating how the voice crack was so bad that on Youtube they edited her voice crack out. One tweet on the social media app “X” states, “Alicia With No Keys.” Alicia Keys and Usher also picked up a lot of heat due to the way Usher acted while they were singing together. On the social media apps Tik Tok and “X” many jokes were being made about Alicia Keys being married and the way Usher was touching her in a manner that would be described as more than friendly. But, Alicia Keys’ husband Swizz Beatz released a statement on Instagram saying, “Y’all talking about the wrong thing!!! Y’all don’t see that amazing dress covering the entire stadium. Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with 2 amazing Giants!” Nonetheless when the music artist H.E.R came out she definitely set the precedence for Ludacris and Lil Jon. During the singing mash up the crowd erupted with excitement. The entire vibe of the show was turned around leaving viewers excited and dancing.
