It was very exciting to see the whole school come together to help me win.” Bethley’s method going into football games is staying focused, working together as a team, and being a role model to his team. Khoury affirms, “Motivating our teammates and seeing them do good on the field is what keeps me going and when somebody makes a good play on the field, I’m there and the rest of the team to congratulate them.”

Last year as a junior, Bethley received a scholarship to the University of Hawaii. Bethley raved, “It’s truly a blessing to be able to go to college for free and get my degree and still play football. I’m really thankful for everything and I’m defintely looking forward to college.”

Without Dr. Cabrera’s help, Bethley wouldn’t have had the support of his school and the alumni of Don Lugo. Dr. Cabrera commented,”Khoury is a very deserving young man, he’s a hard working athlete, and he is also a nice young man. I don’t think he’s one of those typical athletes that thinks he’s better than everybody else so when it comes to any of our athletes representing our school publicly, we want to make sure that we get our name out there because it’s not only good for the athlete but its good for Don Lugo as a whole.”
