The New England Patriots Made History At The Superbowl 51 Against Atlanta Falcons
February 9, 2017
On Sunday February 5, Don Lugo’s family and friends gather together to watch the big game between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51. This is the 9th time the Patriots have been to the big game while Atlanta makes it their second trip. The 2017 Super Bowl had many great moments and a surprising ending! The Patriots had a great comeback and eventually won the game with a score of 34-28.
By the end of the second quarter, the Atlanta Falcons had a commanding lead over the Patriots 21 to 3. Both teams scored in the third quarter making the score 28-9. As the game continued into the fourth quarter, the Patriots mounted their dynamic comeback scoring 19 unanswered points tying the game 28 to 28 sending it into overtime.
This is the first time in super bowl history that a game has gone into overtime. Tom Brady was masterful marching his team in overtime down the field which lead up to the game winning score. He also made history by becoming the first quarterback in the NFL to lead his team to their 5th super bowl win. This is Brady’s 5th championship and his 4th MVP award. Don Lugo’s alumni is excited for 2018’s Super Bowl game and can’t wait to see the teams that face against each other!
