This Saturday the Don Lugo Dance team competed in their first competition of the year at Santiago High School. The Santiago High School Dance Competition takes place every year in their school gym. That day the Don Lugo team won in the two categories; Medium Jazz and Large Jazz out of the four categories consisting of Medium Jazz, Large Jazz, Hip-Hop and Lyrical danceĀ  that they competed in.

The Lugo Dance Team consist of eighteen Lugo students all whom of which competed in the annual competition this year at Santiago High School. The team received 3rd Place in both the Medium Jazz and Large Jazz categories. Dance Captain Carolyn Tellez also competed in all four dance categories; Medium Jazz, Large Jazz, Hip-Hop and Lyrical dance where she exhibited immense passion and talent, two of which she “placed” in. The team members were proud to have competed in this annual competition and to have represented Lugo with pride.

Seven members of the Lugo team are “veteran dancers” from the previous year and so on. Each of those seven had an idea of how the competition would turn out and they were quiet pleased to be proved correct. As for the eleven that are first year Lugo dancers, it was clear that each and every one of them gave it their all that day. Captain Carolyn Tellez expressed, “I think everyone on the team delivered and helped us achieve the win that we deserved for the hard work we put forth these past few months.”
