With the Don Lugo Hip-Hop team now under the instruction of former Lugo dancer alum, Brian Lopez, the team decided that now is the perfect time to kick it “Old-school.” With the next rally and the upcoming Winter Showcase  around the corner the Hip-Hop team thinks it’s time to step away from the “same ole’ songs and dances” for awhile. Going straight from mainstream choreography to old-school Hip-Hop may be daunting; but, the team is nothing but excited for what this new project has in store for them.

The new coach and team are fully aware of the risks that may come with “kicking it old-school” but they are remaining optimistic and can’t wait for the new adventure that the old- school Hip-Hop world has in store for them. Lugo will be able to get a glimpse of what the team has been working on at the upcoming rally on November 18th. The first part of the teams routine is said to be modern dance and music and the second portion of the dance is to turn completely old-school.

The team has an official set uniform that they will debut at the upcoming rally. Lugo Hip-Hop dancer, Karl Hugge says, “I hope the team sticks with the idea of old-school hip-hop, personally I would definitely be into it because I love the culture of the genre.” With the teams new coach being a former Lugo Hip-Hop dancer he says that it is easy for him to know what the team needs and he knows for sure that this will be good for them. Lopez stated, “I am thrilled to be the new coach and I am eager to help the team reach it’s full potential.”
