After many years, Don Lugo’s Varsity Softball coach, Ray Sheffield, retires as head coach. Coach Ron Poteet stepped up to the diamond as the new Varsity Head Coach for the 2016-2017 school year. He has previously been a coach for the JV softball team and an Assistant Football coach at Don Lugo.

The past few years, the girls have been on a league winning streak. With Poteet being the new head coach, he has some big shoes to fill sliding his way through the season with the Lady Q’s. “My expectations are high this year I expect the girls to be league champs as well as be in the final round of CIF,” stated Coach Poteet.

Though it’s not spring yet and “it’s too early to tell what the team is going to look like this year” their coach still has high expectations for the upcoming year. Coach Poteet and his experienced Assistant Coaches and former players Alexis Roman and Ken Clarkson, former Buena Park and University of LaVerne Softball Coach, believe the girls should be in good hands.

Come this spring to watch your Lady Q’s hit some dingers this season with the help of their new head coach.
