37th nail biting Milkcan game ends in Lugo victory
September 26, 2016
Lugo Triumphs Over Chino for the 37th Annual Milkcan Victory. The can has now been implanted back on Conquistador territory after a 37-27 win over the Chino Cowboys. Despite 3 key players’ crucial injuries, 2 weeks prior, the Conquistadores still managed to pull together as a team and defeat their crosstown rivals.
Sophomore Quarterback, Rudy Garcia finished with 230 passing yards to RB, Khoury Bethley and WR, Kendale Taylor. Two interceptions were made by Kendale Taylor and one made by Tzion Dixon with less than two minutes left in the 4th quarter which gave Lugo the luxury of running down the clock and putting them into Cowboy territory.
According to Lugo’s Center, Trevor Goulet, the win meant a lot to him and his teammates and went on to say, ” It was an unbelievable feeling holding up the can on Chino’s field. It felt as if it was meant to be winning my first milkcan game my senior year!”
Lugo is now going into the season opener against Colony High School 3-2 in preseason and hope to carry over the momentum while capturing a league title and another playoff berth for the third year in a row.

Just from watching from the stand I was able to see how much the football team put all their effort in to the game. The hard work and determination go bring the can back was successfully filled. When we won the game.
