With Lugo’s football season just around the corner, there is a new kicker eager to get started. The Senior’s name is Kristin Breaux who is no stranger to the field.

Playing soccer for five years, Kristin felt a sense of confidence when she made the decision to try out for kicker. The new addition to the team stated, “I know how to kick a soccer ball multiple ways to make it go in all types of different directions.” She believes she can use those techniques even though the football is shaped differently.

Not only is her talent in kicking recognized by the coaches, but her speed as well. Initially, the coaches wanted to position her as a running back but, due to the risks that came with the position, she declined. Being in other sports such as club soccer and track she did not want to effect her physical health in the future.

When asked about how she felt being the first girl on the football field she responded, “I think it is amazing because it is not very common…it is an honor.” Kristin will play in her first Varsity Football game on Friday, August 26 at Lugo against Warren High School.
