This photograph was taken at last weeks game against Alta Loma. All throughout pre-season and the beginning of season the Don Lugo basketball team was on fire. With an exceptional line up, much was expected from this team.

On Monday January 11 the Don Lugo boys Basketball team had a giant setback. Due to having an ineligible player on the court during all of pre-season and a league game, the team violated CIF rules. The team was under the impression that this player had moved to the Don Lugo area when in reality he was a transfer student for Colony High School.

The CIF rule for transfer students is that the player must sit out for 30 days unless cleared otherwise by CIF officials. As a consequence of this violation the team was forced to forfeit 7 of their 10 wins. This brought their overall record to 4 wins and 13 losses.

Team center Ian Edwards states, “Unfortunately this happened to us, we worked hard for our wins and it is devastating to see them get taken away like that, but we won’t give up and keep striving for playoffs.” This unfortunate penalization will hinder their chances of making it to playoffs. Although this does not completely take them out of playoff contention.
