The Don Lugo girls basketball team kicked off their league season with a 59-34 win over Montclair Tuesday night. They got off to a quick start at the hands of senior shooting guard Ana Resendiz, who made five 3-pointers by the end of the first quarter.  She would end the game with 31 points and nine 3-pointers.

The Conquistadores also had huge contributions by guard Jaid Trejo and forward Maggie Lamas. Both seniors played a well rounded game in this 25 point victory. With league underway it’s good to see to see the team is starting off on the right foot.

“It’s good that we got this win but we need to see if we can beat the good ones…” says head coach Waltz. This is a basketball program that expects nothing less than to make it to the CIF playoffs. They’re going to look at this win and see how they can take everything that went well in this game and build on that for the rest of the season. The team will face the 2014-2015 Mt. Baldy league champions Alta Loma on Friday at 4:45 p.m.
