The Don Lugo Conquistadors took the field wearing their new all black uniforms for the first time against Rancho Cucamonga High School on September 11th. With the team wearing their “Black out” jerseys imagine the surprise when all the lights went out halfway through the first quarter. The transformer that blew out on a street just behind the campus resulted in a 30-minute delay, Coincidence?

The power outage had no effect on the outcome of the game since the Cougars “blacked out” the Conquistadors 35-10. Even with the feat, the stats of the game were not as bad as the score showed. The Conquistadors Managed to run for 150 yards thanks to running backs Jesse Munguia and Khoury Bethley and quarterback Dane Ford.

Ford also threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Garrett Rodgers in the second quarter. Don Lugo’s defense was able to adjust to Rancho’s offensive scheme and didn’t allow a single point in the second half. Hopefully the Don Lugo Conquistadors can take the positives from this match-up and carry it over to next week’s game at Temecula Chaparral.
