Devil’s Canyon, San Bernardino California. Many hikers who like more challenging terrain hike through the canyon.

On Saturday, April 13th, a plane crashed in the San Bernardino mountains. The Federal Aviation Administration stated that the plane was a twin-engine Gulfstream AC95 which crashed and it was found the next day.  In the wreckage of finding the plane, they found the body of an previously unidentified man. According to authorities there was a debris field near the East 215, and even though it was a small plane, it was still dangerous. The crash happened at around 8:15 PM, and due to the rain, searching for survivors was difficult for authorities to continue through the night.Witnesses reported hearing a plane engine sputtering and then hearing a crash with a red flash in the sky, shortly calling authorities after seeing this.

Deputies responded, but because of the rain and terrain no one could get to the site. Due to the difficulty to reach by foot or vehicle, the site was reached by the Aviation Division. After discovering a way to get there, search and rescue, along with an investigator from the coroner’s office, set out into the debris field and the victim was dead on site. The man was later identified on Monday as 35 year-old Blake E. Broadbent who lived in Riverside. He flew the plane out of Stockton who was heading to Chino Airport, but crashed into the canyon instead. Authorities waited until Monday for identification confirmation to inform the family and the next of kin.
