Don Lugo recently held a thanksgiving food drive at the school! This is a yearly event managed by Renaissance where students and staff are encouraged to donate food for community food baskets going to those in need! The event is a part of Renaissance’s 4S’s: staffulty recognition, student recognition, school spirit, and service to community. This event, specifically, follows service to the community.

The days to donate spanned from November 10th to November 15th and were accepted in room 118. Donations included stuffing mix, instant mashed potatoes, canned vegetables, gravy, boxed desserts, and more. Specifics on the food items were detailed on a flier handed out by teachers that encouraged the students to participate and donate to the food drive. During the last few days of the donation period, the members of Renaissance stayed after school in order to go through all the non-perishables and organize them. According to one member, Artemis, the turnout of donations from the school this year went fairly well. Once all the donations were brought in and sorted through, the students then packed the items into trucks and sent them to the location of the food distribution.

To make everything possible, they have partnered with the food bank, Isaiah’s rock (a non-profit Christian ministry that provides shelter, clothing, hygiene, and warm meals to those in need throughout the community of chino) to prepare thanksgiving food baskets for the community. The program will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Chino City Hall from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon.
