With spring comes great weather, and the great sport of baseball, one of Don Lugo’s top sports competing in division 3 continuously playing against some of the top competition in the state. Year after year the baseball team never fails to make their way into CIF and do not plan on slowing down anytime soon.

Last year can best be described as a disappointing ending for the Conquistadors due as they were able to end league with a incredible 14-1 record however, even with the help of former Nationals pitcher, Chad Cordero, being placed as the coach belong side coach Highstreet, the team couldn’t find a way to escape from a 1st round exit in CIF.

This year is different. To ace pitcher David Vizcaino, the team is looking the best it has in years. He explained in an interview “I couldn’t be more excited about how the upcoming season is looking for us.” With many of the captains gone from last year, this team looks to seize a new beginning with the help from their coaching staff and experienced seniors.

The Conquistadors are playing with lots of confidence as they embrace their fairly new team. In an interview on Jock of all Trades catcher Gabriel “Big Gib” Villa exclaims, “This is the year, we’re all in and ready to finish the season with a ring.”

Besides focusing on becoming League champs and hopefully CIF champs, the Conquistadors couldn’t be more excited for their annual game at Angel stadium. All kids dream of playing in a big league stadium one day, and our school gets to experience just that in an exhibition game.

All of the players look forward to this game every year, who wouldn’t want to take an at bat on an MLB diamond. This is where dreams come true, and also where dreams are born many kids get the itch to return there one day but in a pro uniform. Not only do they get to play a game in Angel stadium but Minor league Quakes stadium out of Rancho Cucamonga as well.

With this years stacked lineup being led by Long Beach State commit Connor Burns, ace pitcher David Vizcaino, and all around stud Gabriel Villa, they look to make an enormous impact on this young team. These young men all agree the season couldn’t come any sooner with the anticipation following all of them through Summer ball as well as preseason. With the skill, confidence, and all around great team moral the boys are looking to roll right through league and give a good run toward CIF gold.
