Sadly, another idiotic challenge has come over the internet, the “Tide Pod Challenge.” This “challenge” can be destructive to your health and even fatal. Sadly this is not the first “challenge” to take over the internet.

Sadly, another idiotic challenge has come over the internet, the “Tide Pod Challenge.” For the love of God, I don’t see why this has to be an issue; where people are eating laundry detergent for entertainment. Youtube and Amazon are already taking measures to combat this growing problem, by removing videos and will restrict comments advocating for eating the detergent pods.

People have slumped to a new level, a level that has turned very dangerous. This “challenge” has lead to 719 calls to the poison control centers, “86 of those calls involved teenagers who intentionally ate laundry pods,” within the first three weeks of 2018, according to PBS.org. Many people are trying to be “edgy” by eating detergent pods on camera for views.

These internet “challenges” can have permanent consequences, as in “breathing problems for the rest of their lives, they may suffer chemical burns on their throats, esophagus or lungs, and even death,” according to PBS.org. If these are not a big enough reason for you not to do this dare think about the fact that youtube videos and possibly channels are being taken down for violating the “terms of service.” This is one of the most ignorant “challenges” yet, due to the long-term effects of this dare people are getting seriously hurt.

Sadly this is not the first dangerous “challenge” to become an issue over the internet and in real life. The most recent prominent “challenge” was the “cinnamon challenge”. According to NYTimes.com, “The videos show them coughing, choking and lunging for water, usually as friends watch and laugh.”

This is something that small children do accidentally, anyone at least eight years of age or more would hopefully have enough common sense to not eat detergent pods. According to PBS.org, “young children have died after eating pods, mistaken for candy.” Again this is something that should not be a thing for anyone with common sense.
