The Lady Q’s took the win against Chino Hills, Ontario and Alta Loma on Saturday the 11th at the Jag invite. A Jag invite is a swim meet where four schools compete against each other for first place. Lugo’s girls gave it their best and were able to return home with the first place trophy.

Some events that took place were the 50 meter sprints, the 100 meter race, 200 meter race, 200 relay medleys, 400 relay free style, and 500 meter race. Many of the varsity girls competed in the 100 meter and 200 meter races. The relay races included butterfly, backstroke, breast stroke, and free style.

Marilyn Villalpando, as the only freshman on varsity, competed in 4 races along with her other fellow teammates. Her events were a 200 relay medley, a 200 IM (individual medley), which is all 4 strokes, the 100 backstroke, and the 400 relay with only free style. Marilyn stated, “It’s kind of scary but also exciting being on varsity as a freshman because I’m up against a lot of upper classmen!” She also commented,” With the new season starting I feel great and I really love the girls and the support we have for each other!”

The girl’s next swim meet will be on March 15, at Don Lugo High school against the Chino Cowgirls at 3:15pm.
