Controversy exploded over Mack Beggs, a 17 year old transgender male, whom won the state wrestling championship in the female division getting rejected from the male division. According to Texas law, whatever your birth certificate says, determines your legal sexual orientation. I think if the person is already taking part in the transformation of becoming another gender, they should be able to compete in sports that their gender affiliates with.

See, now what I find funny is the fact that people are upset that he won in the female division (that the state made him to wrestle in). Beggs followed all the rules he was supposed to and now he is getting all this backlash for doing exactly what he is supposed to do. Twitter user Jordan Rose commented, “To be clear: They would not let him wrestle in the boys division and are now upset that he won the girls division they forced him to be in.”

Now I understand people have the right to have their own opinion, but to get upset at someone who won fairly isn’t right not one bit. People in this society just want something to argue about. Everyone thought that holding Beggs back from competing in the boys division would help themselves feel better about the society they live in, but HA! He won in the girls (Transgenders- 1, Bigots-0).

A person should be able to do as they please regardless of their gender. I greatly admire this young man for doing what he needed to do and won with the circumstances given. “Beggs hasn’t challenged the rules because he doesn’t want to risk loosing his ability to participate,” said Dr. Brandon Mines. Because he has integrity, unlike the people who think they are better than transgenders.
