Hover Camera snaps a shot of the future

Zero Zero Robotics

Zero Zero Robotics revealed the Hover Camera earlier this year, announcing it as “the world’s first truly consumer-friendly self-flying camera that you can touch, engage with, and carry (at just 238 grams) in ways that were never before possible.” Some of its capabilities are to follow the user, hover for 8 minutes on a full battery charge, and take videos and photos in 4k. The company had a vision of a world where every device is smart and simple for every consumer to use, and they believe that with the Hover Camera, they are taking their first step to the future.

Selfie sticks could become a thing of the past when the Hover Camera is released to the public in the near future.

Zero Zero Robotics began in 2014 in Beijing with a vision of creating smart technology and the desire to build what no other company has- a smart camera that can freely hover and follow users on command. The company projects the Hover Camera as the only self-operating flying camera that is safe, portable, and simple for any consumer. The device operates on its Embedded AI constructed by the team, which runs a multitude of complex algorithms on a powerful circuit board-whose size can be compared to a quarter-housed inside a lightweight, yet sturdy carbon fiber frame, weighing no more than 238 grams.

Hover Camera is capable of following the user thanks to a facial recognition system and taking 4k video and photos using a 13 megapixel camera positioned on the front of the device. Apart from the front camera, a 3 megapixel camera on the bottom surface of the frame analyzes the optical flow to gauge its speed, altitude and position to tell the device where to hover. There is no set price announced for the Hover Camera, but the company estimates that it will cost approximately $600.
