Milk Can Extravaganza

More stories from Blake Kemble

Chino and Don Lugo captains shake hands before the annual Milk Can event. Both teams would do anything to have this win under their belt. As head coach Garcia said ” Milk Can isn’t just a game… it’s THE game.”

After losing to Chino High in a triple overtime thriller 21-22 we are left wondering the importance of the game. Students and players, at the moment, are more focused on the loss and not what the game actually signifies. If we can get around the emotions from the loss we see both teams played to the best of their ability leaving us with arguably one of the greatest Milk Cans in Don Lugo history.

This is the most highly anticipated game for both teams involved. This matchup will determine the wielder of The Milk Can trophy that entitles the winner ultimate bragging rights until next season. Both schools use this matchup to elevate school spirit by dedicating a whole week to its preparation.

Whether the game is at Chino High or Don Lugo it never fails to sell out, but have you ever wondered why? According to counselor DeLeon “It’s more of an event not so much a game” and also “We use it as a way to bring the residents of Chino together as a community.” The two teams were evenly matched which resulted in a Chino classic.
