Recently this May, an indie game developer released a difficult puzzle game on Steam for purchase called “Journey of the Light”. Many puzzle fanatics bought the game, hoping to find a challenge, but they logged on to find nothing but a scam.

The game was advertised to have 8 Chapters, and is said to give a hint at the beginning of each chapter in order to solve it. Players began to find that the first chapter is “almost impossible” to solve, in which case, it is. The programmer of the game made it so that the first level has no solution, causing uproar across Steam.

Once the cat was let out of the bag, the creator of the scam feigns ignorance to the accusations and announces false and misleading information about the game. Furious, buyers of the game sent complaints and reports to Steam about the scam, and Steam issued full refunds to each victim.  Hopefully in the future, Steam will be more aware about these potential scams before they happen.
