A Night on the Boardwalk prom theme was revealed at the winter sports rally here at Don Lugo High School. Most students didn’t seem too thrilled about the decision of such theme due to the lack of feedback. Not one person cheered or clapped when the theme was revealed but I on the other hand, am excited about the theme. Dante Reynolds commented, “I didn’t really like the theme because it wasn’t really described to us.”

At this years prom, I am predicting that there will be different types of carnival games like those during the 1920’s. Everyone would be dressed really classy and possibly have flapper attire. My reasoning on why people are upset is because they don’t understand what is involved with the theme.

The theme may presumed to be laid back but I am expecting an over the top massive extravaganza. Hopefully there will be vintage decorations along with a black and white colored photo booth. There could possibly be classical music from the time period.

Some classical music artists I hope to hear are, Louis Armstrong and Jack Teagarden. These are some of the most famous artists of the era. They are mainly known for their soothing jazz which some people still listen to today.

Food that could be there would be cotton candy, hot dogs, Baby Ruth, Kool Aid, Velveeta cheese, and the classic Coca Cola. I think my favorite thing out of all those options would be Kool Aid and hot dogs. You couldn’t go wrong with Velveeta cheese either people use that for everything.

People also need to understand that prom is not all about the theme in reality prom is about having fun with friends reflecting on what happened throughout the year so it shouldn’t matter if you like the theme or not. People get so caught up with the theme when over half the time people don’t understand what the theme is. This is one of the best themes I have ever heard of and I am sure glad to have this for my senior year.

The highlight of this theme is the attire people will be presenting because it would be a nice change from just the “casual” look people come to prom in. No we are talking about full on classy look with the boys wearing a slick suit shined shoes and a pocket watch in the vest,let’s not forget the ladies wearing dresses tailored by Gabriell “Coco” Chanel. Our great great grandparents wore this kind of stuff which is exciting to appreciate them in this way. “I feel like the theme could be good but I also think it would be too expensive to live up to the expectations of the student body, commented Savannah Williams.”

In retrospect we should just be grateful we are even having a prom because not every school is fortunate enough to have dances let alone prom. People just have to get it through their heads that it’s not about them. People heme I think is a really great one the students just have to get warmed up to it and at the end of the day everyone will be happy.
