The Don Lugo marching band received the opportunity of a lifetime when they got to preform the halftime show at the Rose Bowl for the UCLA vs. Stanford game. The performance was even televised on several sports networks for the world to see. Lugo’s band director Mr. Yanik was more than happy with the performance he said, “the whole marching band did amazing.” The Lugo marching band also shared the field that day with the iconic Stanford marching band along with several other local high schools from the Los Angeles area.

One may ask themselves,”how did a school from a small city like Chino get such an opportunity?” Well the Lugo band director saw an amazing chance to do something big and he didn’t let it slip away. Band director Mr. Yanik filled out an application to be apart of the halftime show where he listed the achievements that the Don Lugo band program made throughout the past year. So it must be true when people say “hard work pays off” because that’s what made something like this reachable for the band. Very few high school marching band’s get opportunities like this one but when it comes to Don Lugo marching band nothing is ever impossible for them .

The band had an unforgettable time and hopes to do something like this again. All of the accomplishments and hard work that marching band has put into their past performance’s led to Saturday night’s “amazing” halftime show at the Rose Bowl. Mr. Yanik believes that more opportunities like this one are soon to come.
