In an attempt to get people to upgrade to a new search engine, on January 12th, Microsoft has ended all support for Internet Explorer.

This doesn’t mean that Internet Explorer will be automatically removed from your computer. However, it does mean that your Internet Explorer will not get anymore updates. Without windows constanly updating Internet Explorer, it makes it easier for things like malware and viruses to get into your computer.

With Microsoft ending support for IE, it leaves millions of users at risk if they are using any version of IE besides IE 11. People speculate that Microsoft did this so more people would upgrade to Microsoft Edge, the newest search engine Microsoft has released, and also the default search engine on Windows 10. This means that in order to get the only search engine Microsoft supports, you have to have Windows 10.

Which begs the question, is this just an attempt to force people into uninstalling IE and installing windows 10, or is it just Microsoft trying to help its customers by getting them on the best software they have available?
