CVUSD Board allows high school sports to return

After eight prolonged months, high school sports are able to resume. High school sports in the Chino Valley Unified School District have not been in play since March of last school year’s spring semester due to the pandemic of COVID-19. The pandemic has forced the CVUSD to delay all sports to start their seasons to as early as January of 2021.

Last night in a district board meeting, the board members of CVUSD unanimously voted to resume sports for this school year. Sports teams are able to return to outdoor practice facilities and begin conditioning with these teams. The conditioning must be done in cohorts of 16 student-athletes to one coach.

These cohorts must stay together throughout the duration of the practice. The return dates and further details of how schools plan to execute phase 01 of the return process are yet to be determined. While this positive news is exciting for student-athletes and families in this district, more news is yet to come regarding the return of high school sports.
