A long, tiring day for all wrestlers; this is where all the training comes to it’s peak. Doubts start clouding your mind, as you start to wonder “Did I make weight?”, “Did I train hard enough?”, “Will I be good enough?”. These are all questions that go through a mind of a wrestler on a big day such as the Mt. Baldy League finals. As other sports you can rely on other athletes to try and pick up the slack where you might be falling behind; wrestling is all on you as an individual and requires all the strength that you have within yourself. A wrestler can go days without eating or drinking just to make weight. The training process for a wrestler is brutal, and only few can actually do it. All this training is worth it when at the end of the day, the wrestlers can say they took home a victory for their school and the athletes around them.
Senior Branden Garcia, in the 220 weight class, took on competitors from Chino and Montclair as he entered the finals. These victories take these wrestlers all the way to CIF tournament bracket.
