Niantic Labs has done it again, the company that has created Pokemon Go has created another game. Pokemon Go was a wildly successful mobile “augmented reality” game, based around the use of the environment around the user. Wizards Unite will “Put magic in the hands of aspiring wizards and witches worldwide.”
The game will let users “learn and cast spells, discover mysterious artifacts, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters” according to Nianticlabs.com. There is a chance that Wizards Unite will be created in the same fashion as the ever so popular Pokemon Go. If that is the case, there may be many users, when it is released, that will be running around trying to find items or battle magical creatures with their phones.
The company has so far made two games, one of which is Pokemon Go, and other one was named Ingress. Both of them were “augmented reality” games, which are becoming popular, the use of the outward facing camera, makes it look like the enemy, or object is really there. John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic inc. states “The beloved Harry Potter stories have captured imaginations worldwide for more than 20 years and soon we’ll turn the fantasy into augmented reality, allowing fans and their friends to become wizards and witches.”
Augmented Reality games have really exceeded many people’s expectations of how mobile games can work, and entertain users. The definition of Augmented reality is “a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user’s view of the real world, thus providing a composite view.” Overall, Wizards Unite is expected to be a great game.
