President Elect Donald Trump nearly completes his cabinet as he hires “the best people” to help him run the country days before his inauguration. His selections have surprised many but have satisfied others. Citizens are questioning the members of his cabinet but Trump believes they have the qualities of what makes someone “the best.” But several of his picks have stricken controversy across the nation.

With his cabinet worth $14.5 billion, Trump first includes Jeff Sessions who will be appointed as attorney general. He was the attorney general of Alabama and spent two decades in the senate. Sessions was involved in declining both congressional attempts to pass immigration reform and has made enemies with liberal constituencies, making him unbeneficial for Liberals who want to make immigration reform succeed.

Another member of the cabinet who has spiked up talk is Wilbur Ross, the Secretary of commerce. Ross is a former banker but has earned the nickname “the king of bankruptcy” due to buying struggling companies in industries such as steel, coal, and textiles, turning them into a profit. As an owner of a business, he will have to step down from those obligations in order to perform his duty in commerce.

James “Mad Dog” Mattis has been chosen by Trump to be the Secretary of defense. He is a four-star general, a former commander of the United States Central Command under President Obama, a former head of NATO military command, and was once the former commander of the United States Joint Forces Command under President Bush. People, especially veterans, are pleased with this choice as he is a retired U.S. Marine Corps and earned high-ranking roles during his duty. And as Mattis says, “I don’t lose any sleep at night over the potential of failure. I cannot even spell the word,” his determination is put forward.

For the cabinet position of Secretary of education, billionaire Betsy DeVos has been selected. DeVos is the former chair of the Michigan Republican Party and played a huge part in the failed Michigan school voucher ballot initiative. She is an advocate of the “school choice” movement and makes vouchers available for unfortunate families who want to enroll their children at private schools. But many members of the education community oppose these programs because they deduct money from public schools that do not have sufficient funds.

Tom Price will also be a new member of Trump’s cabinet as the health secretary. Citizens who disapprove of Obamacare will appreciate Price since he has been planning to dismantle the law since it was passed back in 2009. Unfortunately, supporters of Planned Parenthood will oppose Price and is seen as “a direct threat to women’s health and rights.”

Secretary of housing and urban development will be former candidate Ben Carson. He is a pediatric neurosurgeon but is being appointed to the agency that oversees federal programs that are designed to help Americans with their housing needs. Carson has criticized public housing calling it a “failed social experiment” and saying “it’s not the government’s job” to take care of the needy but he has no housing experience. He has even doubted the idea of leading any government agency by saying, “Having me as a federal bureaucrat would be like a fish out of water, quite frankly.”

A surprising pick that has left citizens in questioning is Andy Puzder for secretary of labor. Puzder is the CEO of CKE Restaurants which holdings include the Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. restaurants chains. He opposes of raising the minimum wage that has been proposed by Obama’s administration and as a result, labor groups and the Service Employees International Union will disapprove of Puzder.

As the president-elect continues to add on to his cabinet, many citizens of America are concerned with his interesting choices but some believe he is making the right choices to make the country a great place once more. From four-star generals to CEOs of companies, no matter the nominee’s experience in government, nothing is stopping Donald Trump to select the people he thinks are best for the position. The country anticipates the completion of his administration and his inauguration will be held on January 20th, 2017.
