Since August, Instagram has a new filter. The filter is allowing users to ban any rude or inappropriate comments in their posts. With this filter it will help prevent cyber bullies to a lot of users.

Instagram is allowing users to ban any words that they don’t want to appear in their posts. Users now have a filter that blocks any rude or inappropriate comments on their posts. Users will have to go to the Settings, click the Comments category and switch to “Hide Inappropriate Comments” to activate the filter and they will be able to ban certain words that they don’t want to appear in their post.

Instagram decided to implement the filter so that social media is courteous and more enjoyable for all people. It was also created so that no one would get discriminated with unsuitable words or slurs. Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom stated in a blog announcement, “we’re taking the next step to ensure Instagram remains a positive place to express yourself.”

The first users that were able to use this filter were celebrities due to many rude and inappropriate comments from fans and other users. Around August, Instagram began letting regular users use the filter as well. With the filter in place, hate and cyberbullying could be eliminated by the end of the year.
