Lady Gaga presents ‘Joanne’

Lady Gaga fans at Don Lugo are grooving to Mother Monster’s latest release. The singer-songwriter’s fifth studio album, “Joanne,” is out for purchase after only a month of being announced. The album is expected to debut at the #1 spot on the Billboard charts for which Gaga can thank her dedicated fans.

When Lugo students were asked about their views on the new album, one of Gaga’s fans, or so called “Little Monsters,” Nathan Rodriguez, briefly but assertively stated, “The album is great I love it!” Such enthusiasm in the fandom is evident as “Joanne” has become the most discussed album of the year according to Metacritic. In regard to Gaga’s shift in musical aesthetic, Rodriguez comments, “Yes, it is different from her other music but I love that it is just Gaga expressing herself.”

Critics were quick to notice and commend the differences in musical style when “Perfect Illusion” was released as the lead single for the album in early September. Rodriguez concluded his thoughts by saying, “I like the direction she is taking and I am excited to see the variety of elements she will include in future music.” The pop artist is commonly notorious for her bold fashion choices, but “Joanne” proves Gaga is equally unafraid when it comes to her music.

This is not the first time Gaga experiments with other genres as her preceding album, “Cheek to Cheek”, displays the artist in full jazz. The fact that “Joanne” is a very genre neutral album will hopefully make the album more approachable than it already is; making the students of Lugo excited to see how the album is going to “play out” with the rest of the world.
