YouTube is the center of attention again, but it is in a negative light. After the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, many videos have surfaced in an attempt to call some of the survivors “crisis actors.” One of the videos even became of the videos to slip up to “recommended” for a considerable amount of time before YouTube was able to take action to take it down.

One particular video has drawn the attention of many people. There were videos on YouTube that featured David Hogg at an incident in Southern California where he was a witness to a fight between a lifeguard and a swimmer. Most of the videos were titled “David Hogg” the actor.

It got to the point where lawmakers in Florida were speaking out against the accusations. In a Tweet, Senator Marco Rubio stated, “Claiming some of the students on TV after Parkland are actors is the work of a disgusting group of idiots with no sense of decency.” Soon after at the CNN Town Hall, students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School called out Senator Rubio on taking money from the NRA (National Rifle Association).

The main video that shows Hogg in Laguna Beach, that reached “Top Trending” on YouTube, was since taken down. The video has since been re-uploaded under another account called “50 State Report.”  While the original video had over 121 thousand views, this one has only 6,900 views.

This video is an attempt to destroy someone’s reputation, and as a leader of a large movement, if taken seriously, it could in-danger the reputation of a whole movement. A post on Twitter by a user named “Laguna Beach Antifa,” showed a picture of Hogg in a yearbook claiming that he went to a high school in Southern California. Soon after that, a Twitter user that went to Stoneman Douglas showed a yearbook from that school with Hogg in it.

Twitter has taken down the account and many are pointing out that the “geotag” states that the account is based in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. This only brings to light more of what the Russians are willing to do to interfere with American Democracy.  Yet many are still believing that David Hogg is a crisis actor that went to school in Laguna Beach.
